While expressing my condolence to the bereaved family of Savita (Victim of Irish Medical controversy) I realise the Indian Media is unduly making a mileage and vengeance over the Catholic Church.
The Catholic Church has very rightly upheld right to life which is Biblical. I do understand and do affirm that mothers life takes precedence over the child’s when her life is at risk. But when the whole issue is painted as an orthodox stand of the Church, I feel we are overlooking the issue of life over death. Sadly the Indian community has fallen into a selective amnesia over the millions of fetuses being aborted just because of being a girl (many Savita’s) and media just tend to forget it?
Indian Doctors were also very vehement that doctors were helpless over laws of the land, but I would like to draw their attention to the fact that it was one Mother Teresa. When we as Indian’s overlooked many who were rendered as the scum of the society; she became an Indian and embraced human lives. Just a small reminder to the society that now speaks over the negligence of the church?
Modernity cannot override the right to life !
